Baba Hector was initiated as Olo of Obatala in 2007 in Brooklyn, NY, under Oba Ewing Yobi and tambaleros Carlito Eleggua. He has two Iyas: one is an Iyalosha of Oshun Ibu Kole from the house of Ibaye “Cano” Obatala, and the other is from the house of Ibaye “Pupi” Obatala. He belongs to the “Los Millionaire” lineage, founded by Efunche Warikondo, making him the 14th generation. A second-generation Olorisha to Obatala Ajaguna, his spiritual journey began in childhood, deeply influenced by his father’s initiation.
After earning a Master’s in Game Design from Full Sail University, Baba Hector initially aspired to work in the gaming industry or at Disney. However, his path shifted after a dream involving Esu Iku Boro, which inspired him to create a children’s book series on the Orisas to make their stories more accessible to young audiences. This vision led to the publication of six books: Orishas The Children’s Book Parts 1–4, Orishas The Children’s: The Beginning, and Orishas The Children’s Book: Egbe Olukumi. He is currently developing an Orisa board game titled “The Adventures of the Ibeji.”
