Ìyá Ivie Bien-Aime is a community activist, cultural advocate, poet, spoken word artist, and public servant. She currently serves as a Housing Resource Specialist at the New York State Office of the Attorney General under Letitia James. A descendant of Haitian immigrants, born in the Bahamas and fluent in Haitian Kreyòl, she has proudly called Brooklyn home for over 45 years.

With a Master’s in Educational Leadership, Politics, and Advocacy from NYU Steinhardt, Ìyá Ivie has dedicated her career to advancing housing equity, immigrant rights, language access, and civic inclusion. Her professional path includes serving as a Community Organizer for NYC Public Advocate Jumaane D. Williams, Site Director for a COMPASS Afterschool Program, and multiple family and community engagement leadership roles within the NYC Department of Education. She also organized tenants as an AmeriCorps V.I.S.T.A., helping preserve affordable housing.

As a Birth Justice Ambassador and member of the NYC Civic Engagement Commission’s Language Assistance Advisory Committee for Haitian Kreyòl, Ìyá Ivie ensures equitable civic participation for immigrant communities. Spiritually, she is initiated as an Ìyánífá and Ọṣun Priestess in the Ìṣẹ̀ṣè tradition (2025) and a Yemayá Priestess in Lukumí (2012), weaving faith and activism to heal and uplift.

A member of Little Haiti BK, The Flossy Organization, and Prolific Poets, she uses collective action and poetry—like her celebrated piece “1804: Ayiti Se Nou”—to honor her ancestors and fight for justice, resilience, and liberation.
